Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management (SPNM)
26 – 31 July 2026 on the HBS campus in Boston.


British Friends of Harvard Business School, are supporting up to three HBS UK Social Enterprise Scholarships in 2026.These scholarships provide an opportunity for non-profit leaders to participate in Strategic Perspectives in Non-profit Management (SPNM), a highly regarded Executive Education programme delivered by Harvard Business School and the HBS Social Enterprise Initiative. The programme will take place from 26 to 31 July 2026 on the HBS campus in Boston. SPNM provides a unique opportunity for non-profit leaders to step back from their day-to-day roles, share experiences and insights with peers and HBS faculty, and explore proven ways for their organisations to achieve high performance. Participants connect with non-profit leaders from a broad range of sectors and geographies, gaining new perspectives and practical frameworks to strengthen their organisations. Tailored for non-profit Executive Directors and CEOs, this week-long programme explores how leaders can navigate uncertainty and strengthen their organisations' strategic effectiveness. Through the case method and peer learning, participants develop a stronger strategic outlook and learn how to apply core management concepts to drive organisational impact and implement change.

Who is right for this programme?  

Candidates must be non-profit CEOs or Executive Directors, responsible for shaping the direction, mission, policies, and major programmes of their organisations. 

Candidates should have at least 10 years of professional work experience. 

Candidates should demonstrate a clear strategic leadership role within their organisation.

Scholarship Support

The HBS UK Social Enterprise Scholarship will support up to three non-profit leaders to attend the programme. The scholarship will cover: Programme tuition (including accommodation and most meals on campus) A contribution towards economy travel to Boston. If a selected scholar withdraws after accepting the scholarship or fails to attend the programme without exceptional circumstances, HBS UK reserves the right to recover any costs already incurred. 

Application Process 

HBS Alumni are invited to nominate Non-Profit leaders for consideration.  If you know someone you would like to nominate for this Scholarship, who meets the above-mentioned criteria, please have them complete the attached Application Form.  Application forms, duly completed and supported by an HBS Alumni, must be sent to admin@hbsa.org.uk and received by no later than noon on Thursday, 9th April 2026.  Applications will be reviewed by an HBS UK review panel.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to London for an interview during the week of 20 April 2026. Successful candidates will be notified during the week of 27 April 2026. Final nominations will then be submitted to the HBS Social Enterprise Initiative Admissions Committee in Boston for final approval.
